General Mac software discussions forum: Check printing software for Mac?

I'm looking for software that creates blank checks, with all the data on them-account and routing numbers, bank information, etc.-that will then be filled in via Quicken. [Theoretically, at least-I've so far been unable to get Quicken for Mac 2006 to fill in or ''print'' the blank checks I've already run off using my old PC and Windows-based check printing software--Versacheck, which doesn't make (or stopped making) a Mac version of its program. I'm using fairly standard style checks-three to a page, stubs on the left, and I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get things aligned-a simple process, IIRC, on Windows Quicken and one I've used for years. Actually, I think I aligned the checks very easily once, and never had to mess with the settings again, even after installing new versions of Q.]

So, not to be too redundant, check printing is two-stage process-first you create the checks (the program I'm looking for), then you fill in or print the checks with the specific transaction information using Quicken (or, presumably, some other accounting/financial software).

Hope you don't have your signature stored any place on your computer.
Are you safe printing out your own checks? Watermarks?

Glad to see that anyone is at risk to print their own checks.

Once your signature is on a check or any document, anyone can scan it and use it electronically for any reason that they want.

for software to gather all your information that is transmitted electronically from a computer, business or home?
Transmitting from one computer room in your home to another computer room in your home sort of thing. Anyone within 100 yards of your home are able to record and store this from the computer.
It was discussed about a year ago on the CNET Forums.
Wireless communication of some sort.

Peter, would you ever use wireless communication for any reason?
Seems so risky to use.

Without that, the checks don't process through the system well. They are delayed, inspected and more.

For example the MICR fonts are out there to be downloaded then you whip up a check in Word now you have the font and MICR printer.

There are a new batch of computer owners that expect to find "click here" software and will not apply themselves. The good thing is I rarely find them on CNet forums.

I meant that I had seen people printing checks but all their checks were apparently purchased either from the bank or from Quicken.

I have been using Versacheck for a number of years and love it. Although the bank hates me for not using MICR toner. But the banks here in the US need to upgrade thier old system to OCR. (Even Mexico has gone to OCR!)
So I ''upgraded'' to an Imac and am also looking for the Mac version of Versacheck. I have found one that prints just a blank check but none that fills in also - like the Versacheck.
I'll update u on my success or failure!

I'm somewhat relieved to see that others are having difficulty finding Mac software to do this simple task. I love graphic design/desktop publishing, and don't want to pay someone else to preprint my checks.

Have you had any success finding Mac software? The only other option I can see is to use Virtual PC and use the Windows Versicheck.

I have an iMac G3 with 10.3.9

great minds.....I create just about everything else, so why not checks (I have the magnetic ink cartridge - my bank still uses MICR). I had figured I might be doing that instead of getting more software. I really don't want to buy into the Virtual PC thing just for check writing software either.
