DVD to PC to edit to DVD

I am about to buy a DVD camcorder that records -R on a miniDVD and also RAM. I want to know can I record on the DVD in the R, place the DVD in my pc DVD player/recorder, import into Vegas and edit? Or does it not work this simple? Any help would be great!:-) Thanks.

In therory this should work. This will bypass the step of having to capture the video from tape. Is there any way to record at test at the store and take it home to try? In Pro cameras they have a firewire attached mini HD that is then hooked to the PC and the video is just copied in to the Video editing program. The only problem is that DVD recorders need about 1 more year to get realy good. John

I expect that the DVD would have a file on it that Vegas can read. If not, the camera should come with software than can transfer the video to your hard drive.
