Process: .wtv to .wmv To Be Burned to DVD Question

This is what I have been doing:
1. I record public domain video clips that come from Windows
Media Center. These are old public education videos on safe
driving and healthy living. Windows Media Center records
these video in a .wtv format.
2. I then take the .wtv video clips and input them into Windows
Live Movie Make to have them converted into .wmv format.
3. I then am able to input these files into my So Think Movie
DVD Maker program and they will be burned to a DVD.
Taking a .wtv file into my DVD Burn program does not work.
Does anyone know of a better way to speed up this process? Am I making this too complicated?
