Advice in creating professional video presentations

I'm an intermediate computer user. I know how to edit and create home movies, as well as to do basic touch-up on family photos. I really want to take my skills to a professional level, though, and need advice about software to buy and/or courses to take.
For instance, on the CNET web site, there are hundreds of 'How To' and 'Reviews' videos. I'm interested in learning how to create the graphics that appear as the intro; the video footage with styling graphics as the person is speaking; showing computer screens at various points in the presentation; all with music edited in.
My feeling is that Adobe's Creative Suite is the software I'm looking for but I need confirmation, as well as alternative suggestions.
Also, what's the best way to learn these skills? Enroll in a course at a local Comm.College; online courses; free video tutorials offered via Adobe?
Thank you for your comments.
