my WMP is neither opening nor playing any song

its showing this message: execution to the server failed. what can I do to get it working again?

Also, it could be the error message was "Server execution failed" and this could hamper folk trying to help you.

I only have the clues you provided and had to GUESS that message to find a prior discussion.

I'm encountering folk that think that a cure is known for these problems. And yes there is, but it is unpopular so we look for fixes that don't involve the one that cures them all.
