I suppose it just grabs more people from different aspects.. some need to read, some need to hear and some need to see. So with multimedia you essentially have a higher chance of reaching a broader spectrum of people.

It will help you to present your topic well, especially for graphs and statistics. It also makes you look more professional when you are presenting in front of a panel. Remember, we are visual learners - even when you speak clearly in front of an audience, they would want to see something while listening to you.
