Problems with recording analog video using a firewire
I have a Panasonic camcorder (model number- Panasonic PV-GS200) that I use to digitize my analog signals from equipment such as DVD players, vcr's or an old analog 8mm camcorder. Digitizing this way does truly improve the quality of the video files immensely. My problem is all of the capture software that I have sends a play signal to the camera which starts the camera playing. What I need is some software that does not send the play command, just records what it sees at the end if the firewire. One of the programs that I use will allow me to look at the signal coming in from the analog source and put the camera in the record mode which records the signal onto the DV tape. The computer program then records the analog signal as the DV tape is being recorded on to. This limits the time you can record and you better not want the information on the tape. Just wondered if there was a work around this problem.
