Windows Movie Maker very slow

I've just backed up about 4 hours of video from VHS and camcorder to my computer, and am very disappointed to find out that the audio is offset with the video, and everything is slowed down to about 2/3 the actual speed.

I'm using an ASUS Radeon 9600XT /w VIVO for the video input, and using the line in on my SoundBlaster Adigy 2ZS. I'm running XP Pro with an Athlon XP 2600+, and 1024 MB RAM. I was really hoping that having a such high specs on my system would prevent this type of trouble from happening.

While this may be a lesson about how big the video edit and creation problem is, the offset of audio to video is usually handled in the video editing program.

Since I can't use proprietary tools like WMM, I can't tell you what menu they may hide such an adjustment. But in Virtual Dub, I can skew the time of the audio to video tracks with ease. After I've cut and clipped and created my segments with Virtual Dub, I can use DVD creation software to move it to DVD.

To encode 4 hours of video to DVD would take that much and more time unless you used multiple machines like you see with Cinelerra. Cinelerra can use a "render farm" to cut that wait time.

Read about this if you have windows movie maker (orig. ver.).
Maybe you should download Ulead "dvd movie factory3" for a trial run. But I do still have some sound delay with some materials though. I personally uses "SONIC myDVD" and it seems to work pretty well.
