Gmail Suddenly Archived All My "Labeled" Emails in All Mail

Gmail suddenly archived all my "Labeled" emails this morning. Gmail crashed and closed after Microsoft downloaded a large update. Then Gmail closed and MS WIndows forced my Lenovo to restart. When I went back into Gmail, my Inbox was fine. But my emails that were not still in my Inbox, by which I mean the emails that were "Labled" and accessible by clicking on one of the "Labels" in the left-hand column of the screen, were gone, ALL of them. The "Labels" were still there but they were empty, no emails inside.
I went to the Gmail Help Forum online. At the exact same time that I lost my emails in my folder-like "Labels", another Gmail user "lost" all of his emails in his Inbox.
At the Gmail Forum someone suggested that in these situations one look in All Mail, Gmail's email archive.
I went to my All Mail. There I found my "lost" "Labeled" email. I also learned that "Labels" are not like Folders in other email programs because each Gmail email can have more than one Label.
You cannot just click a box and have either all of the archived emails go back to their previous (Labeled, folder-like) locations or even have just an individual email clicked back to its previous (Labeled) location. I have to click off each individual email (there are THOUSANDS!!!) and the only place they will go to is my Inbox. And then I have to go through my Inbox and see if it is even possible to click each one off to one particular Label (the most important Label to me).
Does anyone know Gmail well enough to know if all of this info is correct? Is there another, simpler, faster way to be able to get my archived emails in All Mail back to their Folder-like, Labeled locations on the first page of my Gmail?
This is a business computer with business Gmails that we need to access repeatedly without spending hours searching for them.
Thanks for any help, insight and/or advice anyone can offer.
