Need to archive email, as a memorial, for a friend...

I've just lost a close friend. I have about 6,000 email messages sent over ten years I'd like to preserve for myself and for her other friends and relatives.
All messages are in Eudora, version 7.0.1.9. I can easily create .mbx files, but these are readable only if the recipient has Eudora or a compatible email client installed.
Another problem: Many of these messages contain not only image attachments, but embedded images -- funny, poignant things that recall signature moments of her life, made us laugh, and lifted our spirits during difficult times.
However, Eudora files these embedded images in a different folder. Even if that folder is imported into another PC with the Eudora .mbx and .toc files, the images don't display as originally embedded in the message. Which makes many messages unintelligible.
Yes, I know, Eudora is ancient. I should have abandoned it long ago. But at present I desperately want to find a way to save these precious memories.
Is there any way to do that digitally, without having 6,000 messages printed out into a pile of paper that would destroy half a rainforest, since so many friends would like copies?
The only other way I can think of is PDF, which would take me six months to do, and produce files so huge no one would be inclined to bother with them.
Any advice would be very much appreciated...
