Outlook 2002 drains RAM Computer Freezes

Outlook 2002 SP 3 depletes RAM when sending/receiving. Drains RAM to 0 and hangs computer, therefore doesnt download my email. Sometimes computer will shut down and restart. Sometimes it just hangs forever and I finally have to hold in the power button to shut it down.

Compaq Presario , XP SP 2 or 3 Home Edition with Office Pro

80 GB HD (only about 3.5 GB free) , 1GB RAM Pentium 4 1.70 MGHZ

CA Security Suite, RegCure, CCleaner, MemoKit, IObit 360, Ashampoo
WinOptimizer, XoftSpySE, GhostSurf Platinum(expired), AdvancedSystemCare 3
Firefox 3.5, IE 7

Ouch! XoftSpy "and" RegCure

XoftSpy used to be a rogue anti-spyware. It may have cleaned itself up, but I would still not trust it.

RegCure is mentioned many times in these forums as dangerous software.

It seems you have damaged your OS. Try repairing your Outlook;
http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/outlook/repair.html

If you cannot do that in Normal Mode, I would try it by booting into Safe Mode.

Remember to back up your .pst files first.

Is there a commercial registry editing program that you prefer?
They all claim to be the best!
I used Registry Mechanic for awhile and tried some others.
Reg Cure seemed to work best on XP and Vista.
I used to receive CNet emails regularly and would go with their recommendations.
Everybody wants to sell a program for $30-$50 and you have to renew it every year. With multiple computers, it starts to get expensive.
If were "going to play-we have to pay"!
