Set Default Program for Opening Attachments in Outlook Expre

I use Outlook Express and up until now my email attachments have been opening in Word (Office 2007). All of a sudden the computer is asking me to insert my Office 2003 Business Edition Disk, which I do not have. Maybe there was a trial version of Office 2003 on my computer??? Is there a place I can go to make my Office 2007 Word the default for opening attachments?

Save such a file to your hard disk. Browse to it in my Computer or Windows Explorer. Right click>Open with ...
Browse to the program (in the Program Files folder) you want to use to open it. That's probably winword in the office 12 folder.
Check the checkbox to confirm that you want to always use this program for files with this type. OK.

You don't tell what the filetype is. There are many files, of course, that won't open with Word 2007. Such as spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations, mp3's, pictures. We only have your believe that this particular file can be opened with Word 2007.

Vivianward, What is/are the file extension(s) that you are having problems with? If they're .pps or .ppt files follow the instructions at the link below.
