That's in the properties in Windows Explorer. When a file comes from a CD or DVD it's set and you must clear it yourself.

Just a guess.

Yes. I copied the file to my D: drive and it was not checked. I attempted to do a file scan/repair using the Microsoft Office program and it could not read the file. My best guess is that the file got corrupted when being burned. I don't know if there is anything else to do. I know all the info is there as it is ~ 300MB in size.

Outlook 2003 comes with a repair tool, described in http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.asp

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101003841033.aspx discusses the Office 2007 equivalent. Might help. Maybe the commercially available repair tools have evolved to support the 2007 version also. I didn't check any of those.

PS. This shows the usefulness of having multiple independent backups. And I think a USB stick or external hard disk is (for a purpose like yours) more reliable (and especially faster) than burning to DVD). Too late now for that.

on closer reading, I doubt if the MS Tool works for Outlook. But http://www.datarecoveryi.com/-vp134.html explicitely says that scanpst.exe is available for Outlook 2007 also. So you might be lucky. Please let us know if these tools work for you.

they have a demo version to download.

You can have a look at that site http://www.datanumen.com/aor/ ,where you can find somtway to fix your corrupt or damaged PST files.
