Outlook Express---multiple copies received of each message.

I am using Windows XP Pro, on a Dell 8200 laptop, 1Gb RAM, broadband (Clearwire). I started receiving multiple copies of each message several days ago. Some days two copies of each, other days four copies, and most days three copies. These are messages from friends using various ISPs. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Outlook Express to no avail. Any assistance would be greatly apreciated.

check your settings

If you settings are correct, you may have to tell us what or how this might be happening.

Are you using the same computer? or a different one?

Are you re-logging into the computer and then checking your email, again?

Under tools

accounts

properties

advanced, Do you have leave a copy of message on the server checked or Not checked?

Are all the emails being downloaded in doubles and triples?

Are the multiple emails coming from just a certain email address?

What type of virus protection do you have? Your friend?

Thanks for your assist. All settings were correct. The multiple messages came from several sites using various popular ISPs. The "leave a copy of message in server" block is not checked. All Emails would come in in multiple units, sometimes double, sometimes triple, other times quadruple. After talking to my ISP troubleshooters a second time, a glich was found in their setup where my mailboxes (I have two) were somehow sending the messages back and forth to each other causing the multiple presentation. I've been using this ISP for over a year without any problem. Stuff happens!!!

Thanks for posting back. It's strange to see it but forwarding messages can become a problem, as you saw.

I don't forward messages. I just check each email account separately.
