Outlook express send recieve problem.

When I open outlook express and click send receive, a box appears with my correct email address and pass word dot filled.The server incoming mail address is not the correct one.By going into tools-accounts-prefrences-servers,I can put correct incoming mail server in the relavent box and cure the problem,but the next time I start the computer, I have the same problem all over again. Any help would be great. Thanks

The incoming server address is not the same - how different ? Can you receive mail anyway ? Do you have an anti-virus program which scans in-coming mail ? If so, the anti-virus program probably diverts mail, and so changes the adddress, to its "proxy mail server" for scanning purposes.

OE problem

Hello Papa Echo,the server name is completley different,it is all digits.I use McAfee security which has caused no problems for the last 5 months.The problem started on 25th feb 07.Windows XP is the operating system.Thanks, Tony.

All numbers....

Do you mean the numbers are like an IP address, e.g. 123.45.6.0 ? If so, try "tracing the address. With Internet connected, open a command prompt (Start>Run->cmd ) and type in tracert www. numbers, where numbers is the changed address.

Once again, can you receive mail despite the changed address ?

To solve the problem quickly, try system restore to before 25th Feb.

Hi.Iam unable to receive mailwith the changed address.I have also tried system restore to a point before the problem arose but to no avail.The changed address is like an IP address.

Is it 127.0.0.1? This is the localhost server created by McAfee. I would uninstall McAfee, reboot, correct the server, reboot, and install a better anti-virus program like NOD32.
