outlook express keeps sending out duplicate emails- help

Recently when I send an email I get a blank error message and appears the the email has not been sent although it has. A copy of the email goes into my out box and will keep sening out to the addressee whenever I hit send receive. The only way to stop it is to delete it from the out box. I have scanned the computer with norton 2006 for viruses and found none. I installed service pack 2 and still have the problem. any advice

In OE, goto Tools > Options and click the "Send" tab. Is the 2nd option down "Send messages immediately" selected or not?

If not, select it then Apply/OK out. You may have to close down OE and restart it to take effect.

Does that solve the problem?

HI! I'm wondering if you found an answer to this problem yet. It is so frustrating. My message also goes into my outbox and does not show me that it was ever sent yet people receive it duplicate times from me. The tip someone posted does not seem to be my problem as I have it set to send immediately. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Karen 7647

Took advise and dumped all my old inbox, sent, and deleted files and this seemed to sol;ve the problem. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Check your OE Folder..

Your OE folder (inbox, sent, outbox, etc.) may have a lot of emails in it.... if so, try to delete or move them.

Also, if your OE email Folder that contains all the DBX files is also have to many files.. (beyond the limit).. try to delete or back up to another storage.

As we know, Inbox folder can only contain 16xxx emails in it, beyond that, you wont be able to retrieve your new email...

And also check your HD space too...

Finally somone gave me the answer. I can't tell you how many things I've tried and calls I've made. It figures it was something as simple as getting rid of a bunch of junk. Thanks again.
