Gmail question

Does Gmail have an option that will automatically delete emails after a set number of days?(45)

I was recently on the webserver and I have alot of emails in the trash. I don't really need them after 45 days. I was wondering (that's dangerous too)if there was some setting that I could tell it to automatically delete my trash messages after 45 days.

From all I see and read it seems GMail encourages mail be left on the server... for what reason I am unclear.

If you learn a way I sure would like to know. I just highlight and manually delete all mine from time to time.

your comment. You were asking about auto deleting the "Trash" after 45 days... I see at the top of the Trash page that it is automatically deleted after 30 days but see no provision for changing that to 45 days.

Automatically deleted after 30 days does not work.

You are right I see this message

(messages that have been in Trash more than 30 days will be automatically deleted)

But I just looked and my oldest email is dated

April 12th

and today is Thursday September 29th.

Is that more than 30 days?

Who do you report this to?

Houston, I think there's a problem!

No solution here but I suppose you can manually delete these. I have none in trash so cannot test it. I have manually deleted all my e-mails except a few recent ones.
