A photo viewer like ACDSee?

I used to have the old simple ACDSee on my old computer, and I loved it for viewing pictures. It showed them in order, and I could put up more than one to compare pictures side by side. Is there something similar, that's free, and won't load junk or spy ware, etc. into my computer? I use another photo editor, so really don't need that feature.

I have Picasa now, and don't like it. It doesn't show the photos in order, so I an compare them like I could in ACDSee. It showed them in the order of the name of the picture, which Picasa doesn't ... unless I don't know how to make it do so. If I change a picture name, Picasa shows the pictures in the old order. I need to see them in order .... 1a, 1b, 1c, etc., as I delete and rename the pictures to compare.

Any help really appreciated. Thanks.

Take a look at Irfanview

It is free and fast.
I have been using it for years on all of my computers.

I was not sure if you could show two pictures side by side, so I tried.
You can do it by using the Panorama feature.
Image/Panorama/Add Images(2)
Then use the "Create Image" button to show them side by side.

I downloaded and really like Irfanview, except that it shows all my HTML files on Notepad, as well as images. I checked only the .gif and .JPG file associations. Other than that, the program is great.
