Need new computer

My last system crashed and I am in the market for a new computer. I have gone to Best Buy and the Asus was suggested. It costs $849. Asus - Essentio Desktop / Intel Core? i5 Processor / 8GB Memory / 1TB Hard Drive. I went to Staples and the HP Pavilion p6610f Desktop PC
* AMD Athlon? II 635 Quad-Core Processor (2.9GHz)
* 4GB installed memory
* 750GB hard drive

I have done graphics for years but am not a hardware person. I use photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign and often have several programs open at a time and going between them. Sometimes in PhotoShop, my working file can be almost a gig with all the layers I work with.

I want to spend the least amount of money and get a system that will not be so slow that I will want to shoot it.

Any suggestions on the above or other options?
