Corrupted/damaged jpg file

This file was produced by a software program that is supposed to "read" images from a larger file. However, the resultant jpg files cannot be opened or viewed. I have hundreds of these! I looked at them with a hex editor and it appears that there is a problem with the header.

This is what the first 10 lines of code look like.

Have the person that sent you the files to re-send the original file.
May not be corrupted at all. May be the person sending them to you does not know how to save a JPEG file to you or for you how to read it. Could be. Mac or PC?

There is no way to open a corrupted file.
That file that you showed us is all code. Useless to open

If you received the file over the internet, try a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer in order to open it. I prefer Mozilla Firefox as a browser. Works on a PC or a Mac. Great browser!
When on Safari, all the files are improperly read and come up as code when sent to me from a PC.
I use a Mac 10.4.9 system. Not sure of the problem and why the file comes up as code.
Firefox Browser can read the files and have no problems.

Frustrating from the getgo! Do you run a PC or a Mac? OS? That would help to figure out your problem.
What is the software that you use in order to open that file and read?
Could be a file generated in some software program that you cannot read at all.
Our Mac software generally, cannot read PUBLISHER files at our workplace. We do not have their program.

If I sent you a file generated from Adobe Photoshop and saved as an EPS (Encapsulated Post Script), you would not be able to open the file without having that Adobe Photoshop software. The file is not corrupted at all.
If I saved it as a JPEG file for a Mac or as a file saved for a PC, you would be able to open that file easily.
Depends on how I save it.

Most of the CD or DVD burner programs let you save the file as a JPEG Universal Reader. (90096)

That may be a JPC or JP2 file

According to filext.com (a very good source for file extension details) those initial bytes indicate that file MAY be a JPG2000 file, which would either be with a .JP2 or .JPC.

The JPG2000 format is a loss-less (NO loss) JPG image compression format. JPG2000 can be opened by IrfanView.

IrfanView can repair some image data error when it opens the image file. Such as, if the image has the wrong file file extension attached it will ask if you want the file extension renamed. You do not need to accept that suggestion to open it with IrfanView. In fact, IrfanView can open images with NO file extension at all.

But if the file is corrupted, even IrfanView can't repair the damage.
