Browsers forum: Installation problems

The shortcut refers to the Firefox, the item is the Firefox.exe. The latter is not contained in the folder where Firefox is installed. Some other. exe files contained in the folder such as crashreporter.exe, maintaninaceservice.exe, and updater.exe will not open if clicked. My system is Win7 64 bit

Now we get to the more difficult questions, inspired by the error message "You may not have the appropriate permissions":
- What permissions do you have for the folder?
- What permissions do you have for those exe files that won't run?

Even though I never do that with other installations and have no problems, in this case I Run it as an administrator and you know the result.

You didn't tell your OS, but have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHQ9LxpZJqk to learn about permissions. You can find more stuff with Google of course.

And to speed things along it's best to repeat it just in case.

Also " My system is Win7 64 bit" is not very exact. With some dozen variations out there you may not know that one system is not like the next.

I would have prefer you to contribute in the solution of my problem instead of admonishing me. I am a computer layman after all.
I did not have any problem installing, Chrome, IE, Comodo and Opera browsers. Why do I have one for the Firefox and have to dig so deep in order to install it?

And I agree that Windows is no longer for the general user. Why should you have to deal with permissions today?

But, luckily, I picked the right example. The video was about Windows 7 and 32 or 64 bit shouldn't make a difference in the UI or the NTFS properties.

So you're well positioned to solve your issue now, I think.
