Manage updates with the Download App
I can't find a way to prevent anyone using my laptop from accessing IE.
I tried disabling access from %SystemRoot%\system32\control.exe appwiz.cpl,,3 but this seems to have no effect.
I have windows vista 6.0 with service pack 1 and the browser is IE 7.0 (I uninstalled IE8 if that makes a difference)
Any suggestions appreciated

1. Why do you want so?
2. What version of Vista (Home, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate)? Makes a difference for the controlling access to files.
What happens if you rename iexplore.exe to ladygaga.jpg and move it to your My Pictures? Don't tell the other users of your laptop you did. Then see if they manage run IE.
But then don't come complaining with us if you have to undo the operation to be able to access Windows Update yourself.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
1. So I can't be distracted whilst revising for exams.
2. Vista Home Premium. Obviously I could rename it but there must be a better solution and besides I'm trying to implement some change that's difficult to undo myself.

There's an easier way, don't use it.
How does having IE not open distract you?
Even if you could disable IE, why wouldn't Chrome distract you?

In your FIREWALL block port 80. That should cause any BROWSER to spew an error page. Dead.

Good, but I need to use chrome for research. I have chrome nanny for that btw.
