Waste of time.

i followed your advice and duly posted my question in the 'TechTracker' forum. No reply was immediately forthcoming and i had come to the opinion that it wasn't really a 'TechTracker' issue as the result was duplicated by 'Apple Software Update' and, maybe, therefore more appropriate here.
However, i now know the answer to my own problem and am sorry for wasting everyone's time.
My question arose because my Windows, 'Programs and Features' and 'Revo Uninstaller' give my current Safari (for Windows) version as, '5.34.55.3.'. What this bear of very little brain had failed to check was the browser's very own, 'About Safari'. This i did last night after accidentally opening the browser, though what prompted me to do so when i had intended to just , 'File, Exit', i now do not remember. There was the answer to my update conundrum: 'Safari 5.1.5 (7534.55.3). How Windows, 'Programs and Features' and 'Revo Uninstaller' interpret that to 'Safari 5.34.55.3' is a whole other can of worms that is best left to my friend 'Owl'.
Thank you for your reply and time.
You may now mark the issue as closed.
Cheers, ben
