Browsers forum: Firefox 3.6.x Reaches End of Life

With the release of Google Firefox 4, they have been bleeding market share. To break it down, only 16% of the browser market share is using the ever newer but never better quick release version, 5% fragmented between different versions and 3% still holding on to version 3.6. The month that Google FF was released Mozilla FF held 30% of the market share. You would think that the people running the company would realize that over 20% of their user have jumped ship on them. It is hard to believe that the managers, who must have degrees in business management, saw these numbers and read the push back on the decision to copy everything Google would continue on the path they chose. I will use Mozilla FF 3.6 for a little bit longer and make my migration to Sea Monkey or Opera. I am leaning towards Opera at the moment.

May Google FF live long enough to receive the money promised to them in the new contract that Google bestowed on them last year. I hope it is enough for driving this great browser out of the market.

They have yet to change the name on the site. They are still trying to convince their shrinking user base that they are still independent.

I thought you knew that Mozilla is Google, at least as far as I am concerned. I am not alone in that either. I read an article the other day that used the words mimicking Google when they wrote about v12.

I hope members who do understand the joke, (and are still using Mozilla Firefox v3.6.x) don't get lost in the humor and fail to update to a more recent version.

Why is it important? Because:

"No further updates, including security updates and critical fixes, will be made available for the series".

But then I have never really idolised anything, I just use whatever I feel is best at the time. I assume that is why I consider myself so level-headed when it comes to these things, and not get upset when they change. Others might disagree with my perception of me, but that's fine.

As to add-ons I admit I am mystified why I rarely have problems with them with each new release of FF. But then we know that some combinations of add-ons, whether in Firefox, IE, even Google apps, can be toxic, and these are often found out with new releases. They might often solve underlying problems that users have without really knowing about it.

Nothing is perfect in this computing world, but it is hard to get that message across.

i do not know anything about it. is this true? never heard it before.

Fire fox is NOT finished by a long way . . .we studied the life span of this and legacy systems. . . . its here for a while.
