IE 9/Firefox 11 in Windows 7

My new Window 7 desktop came with IE 9. However I did not do anything with it because I use
Firefox as my default browser. I have customized
Firefox with Ad Block Plus, WOT (Web of Trust)
and Ixquick search engine.
Now - I would like to have IE 9 with the same add-ons/plugins (just to have in case Firefox goes
down). These 3 add-ons download without a problem and appear in 'Programs and Features'.
However - they do not appear in IE9 under
downloads.
I have tried making IE 9 the default when I do
these downloads - and using the 32 bit and the
64 bit versions to do the downloads. I have even
tried an alternate add-on (one that is not available in Firefox). The results are the same.
Doesn't IE 9 allow add-ons in Windows 7 (it did
in Vista {as I remember}). Is there a trick to
installing them?

IE doesn't install add-ons like these in the same way.

In fact I know that the AdBlockPlus developers decided never to develop their ABP add-on for IE. Whether that "never" means never, I don't know.

I know WOT has a version for IE as I have it myself, but you need to visit these sites, the ones who develop the add-ons and not the Mozilla add-on web site, with IE itself to see if they have versions for IE.

By visiting the sites in IE the web page recognises which browser you are using, and so gives the appropriate information, more often than not.
