Several Issues with Firefox 10.0.2....please help!

by dandelion685 - 3/9/12 10:38 AM

Hello everyone!

(specs: XP2002sp3, dell latitude pre-historic ancient laptop)

Ok, I am running FF 10.0.2 and ever since the upgrade prior to this one (last Nov?) I have been having multiple issues. I will try to be as descriptive as possible.

1) (most annoying) when I open a new browser or a new tab within the browser, the cursor will go to the end of the Address bar instead of the search box (home page is google). So I have to click in the search box to get the cursor there.

2) I often select text on a webpage to print instead of printing the whole page or graphics. Since last Nov. (approximate) when I print a selected text area, only 1/2 of the first line on the page text will appear (the top half of all the words on the first line is missing). I brought up the same webpage in IE8 and it does not do that, so I ruled out the printer. I'm thinking something with page setup or margins, which I have explored extensively to no avail.

3) When I login to my online banking I get prompted to verify who I am because the bank software does not recognize my computer and wants me to register it by answering security questions - I should only have to do this once and be done with it. However, every single time I login to the bank I have to go through the security questions, etc. I contacted the bank technical support and they said that javascript needs to be enabled and it sounded like it was not. I checked the javascript settings and the checkbox was checked as enabled in the Tools-->Options-->Content tab. Oh, and I did use IE8 to login and was NOT prompted to register computer or answer security questions. One thing - since the Nov FF upgrade I have several Add-ons not compatible....however, I just double checked the Add-ons, or plugins(?), and all are now compatible.

Ok, I think that is all I could find in my notes. I had several other problems, but they appear to have resolved themselves. Do you think these problems were due to the upgrade last Nov? I tell ya, I was so frustrated with the problems that I temporarily switched to IE8 but also lost my patience with that browser...no thanks!!

Thanks for all your help!!
