Browsers forum: Firefox 3.6.3 problems

Regarding your question: "When you uninstall Firefox do you delete all the profile files?"

I really don't know. I use the Control Panel uninstallation and click on the option to remove all personal settings

But one file is usually left undeleted: xul.dll, and I am unable to delete it manually also, so there's something strange with the Firefox 3.6.3. A virus?

Did you follow those instructions?

Yes I did, and though the profile file was locked and took some effort to get rid of. The problem was gone when I reinstalled, so thanks a lot for your advice. However after a few days, the same problem has reappeared, so the 3.6.3 seems to have some inherent instabilities that screw up the profile file. E.g. it consistantly freezes with a "non-responsive script" message, whenever I click on Favorites on the menu bar, and thereafter becomes totally unresponsive, so that I must use the Task Manager to kill it, whereafter the startup problem often begins.

Also its somewhat strange that the profiler file isn't removed by the installer when one checks the "remove all settings and custimizations" option. I'm not excactly a computer newbie, but the existence of a profile file after uninstalling was terra incognito to me, so the Firefox guys should perhaps consider implementing a "clean install" option that removes all previous files and registry settings before re-installing?
