Opera, by far. It's fast..pure and simple, great tabbed browsing.loads of easy to use features. Much better than any of the other touted browsers like Firefox,Slimbrowser, etc.

Posted above on SecureIE...
You got me on the "FireFox is free.." comment.. Also, I just "discovered" that FireFox CAN open blocks of websites at one time using the "open in tabs" option under bookmarks.... Pretty neat... I think I can now uninstall the three other browsers I have on my machine...
Great thread all btw

Hi Bryan
My Opinion? Mozilla Firefox by far. Open source no active X controls, (Macromedia Flash. 7, instead) that aloes others to highjack your web page. Bottom line, it makes for safe web browsing. period.

Maxthon is fantastic. I love the skins and all the features. It takes a little time to master but it's well worth it.

I sometimes use Firefox but I think it has lack of functions intergrated or you have to download plugins for it. I recommend Opera or Maxthon that may suit you needs.

Re: What is the best Browser? It's Broadpage

First the best - then a bug or 2.
Broad Page runs on the IE format so you are upgraded as IE comes along with changes. Broadpage is multiple SCREENS of URL's as well as TAB's for each not on screen. You can have one/two/three/four or up to a hundred. I like it for putting categories of sites in the Save LAYOUT feature: current layout or manage layouts. You can use an editor/file moving program also and shuffle edit faster than through the manage layouts. The ability to load symoultaniously your favorite cam sites or political sites or entertainment sites in one whack is fenominol.
A bug I don't like but tollerate because I love broadpage to death, is the occassional script error box message you have to hit enter for yes to continue. Depending on the particular url you may never get that, but some low quality sites have a lot of them. IE kicks them on through, but BP stops with the box message. Another potential is that some sites such as for surveys are looking for IE characteristics that do not show up when using BP and so you get a message that "we cant give you the survey as can't recognize your browser type, etc to that effect." But other than that. It is the only one I see anywhere with the multiple screen feature.
SIDE NOTE: I once exchanged a few emails with the actual author of this program and lost his address with a crash. I find no Contact Us on the broadpage.com site that gets you to anyone. I have only seen their professional version for a lot of big bucks to buy advertised on the site and of course the free 3.2 version. I use a 3.2.3 Anyway, I'd like to thank the author and tell him to fix those couple bugs for the freebie version. I wish everyone used broad page as it's just so fantasticly handy and as well if you have your own web site and need an online view of it and a couple of others side by side. You can't beat it. Thanks, Frank S. in Lincoln NE hisroyalness at hotmail dot com

I fell for Mozilla Firefox what with the hype I was deluged with. Then I found two major deficiencies.
The Yahoo tool bar refuses to jell with it.
The formatting mode of my mail programme doesn't work with it and I must be content with the basic formatting if I have to use it.
Any suggestions for a workround?

I personally use Firefox. I have no security issues and haven't had a popup since I started using it. It's very quick and requires a small download. I love it but that's my personal opinion.

I use dogpile. It covers all the major search engines without changing engines. Gives you a bigger variety of searches to choose from on one page.

I have been using Maxthon (formerly MYIE2) and am quite pleased with it. Firefox by Mozilla is also excellent. Basically, anything to get away from IE and the hackers, viruses, and worms.

Another vote for Firefox. ![]()
I tried Opera a long time ago when I was looking for an alternative to Internet Explorer and I liked it at first (tabbed browsing, etc...). It was free (and still is) but the free version has ads.
Firefox is completely free and has no ads whatsoever. The whole graphical interface in Firefox is used for browsing only the sites you request and not ads. ![]()
Firefox is my default browser now but unfortunately I still have to use Internet Explorer on the few web sites that were not coded in compliance with the W3C standards (in other words, coded to work only with Internet Explorer, ignoring the standards). So when a web site doesn't display very well in Firefox, the browser is not to blame but the web master of that web site is. ![]()
I will never look back. ![]()

The question regarding the "best" browser is like the question what is the best car! In both situation the ranking depend on at list few factors. The professional skill of the driver, the target in using the car: in the benefit of the Governement for diplomatic appliances, in minimg to transport the excavated mineral or solid fuels ... and so one.
I prefer the GREEN BROWSER. It satisfy both dplomatic and hard creative personal trgets in browsing the INTERNET UNIVERS.

Hi Glenn,
I haven't been home much lately, so have not played on the PC. No problems with SP2, working great.
The final for Firefox is due out Nov. 10th last I heard, so maybe I'll have more time to update then.
Have a Good One.

Firefox is, as many others have claimed, relatively fast and secure, which I agree with.
However, it seems that FF doesn't support pages written in double byte language very well, such as traditional / simplified Chinese. As someone from Hong Kong, I need to surf these native language sites frequently, and I just have to keep IE for them.
Hope the final release in Nov can resolve such.
PS - Anyone here from Asian and have experience using FF can offer advice on this?

Well Bryan, I'm short for time in reading any other post in this thread, just wanted to say that everyone, well almost everone, is against ole Billy Boy and his well deserved billions ($) which draws hackers/cracker by the droves to try to cripple IE. For me, I have 3 home desktop computers, a Win98se, WinMe, and WinXP (home). Been using IE since 1999 without one single problem or a virus, worm, trojan..etc. Just recently added and started using the Mozilla Firefox only because the hackers/crackers haven't zeroed in on it yet. It is OK, but the only gripe is not handling my transfer of 'Favorites' (Bookmarks) to the method/system I'm use to in IE (so it takes an extra click or so).

"Best" depends on what you are looking for. That's all I could really say, the rest are opinions.
Some dependent variables are
-Security
-Features
-Speed
No matter who ask this question, they will try all the browsers and see for themselves. So don't wait for a reply you like. Try them out and see what you like.
