IE8 slow opening new tab

Have suffered the problem with IE8 of being very slow opening a new tab.

Found solution to this problem on my XP-SP3 PC by turning off JAVA as an add-on in IE8. I have the latest JAVA 6.13 also so something is fishy.

Turning off the Java add-on v 6.0.150.3 from Sun Micro Systems also worked for me. Running Vista Home Premium SP2. I had 1st found a tip that said to right click on IE8 and choose "Browse without add-ons" and found that this speeded my browser up completely, but I didn't want to run with all add ons disabled so I kept looking til I found the tip about disabling the Java add on and all seems much, much better.

Turning off Java plugin 6.0.160.1 greatly sped up IE8 opening new tabs for me on Windows 7 as well. It was getting ridiculous working with a handful of IE windows but is much better now. Thanks for the tip.

Turning off add-ons is a great way to speed up browsing, for those that don't know how to do it,
In IE, go to tools and manage add-ons.
Disabling any unnecessary add-ons may help your Internet run faster.
Try disabling add-ons with more than a .2 sec load time. (i.e. tool bars)
