Browsers forum: No choice, I have to use IE...

First off I hate it when M/F crashes because it resets the cache. Browsing is always slow until the cache is restored.

From my previous post I un-installed ForcastFox and SiteAdvisor. I was able to load M/F without it crashing but didn't know if either of the two extensions were causing the crash.

Before I un-installed those extensions M/F would crash when and after I went to Thunderbird and clicked on a link in an email that loaded the M/F browser...at least a secure type of page in the browser.

After un-installing the two extensions I am able to go to Thunderbird, click on the same link that would load M/F and no crashing. I tried a number of times but M/F would not crash.

I then re-installed SiteAdvisor, clicked M/F and it loaded with no crashing. No matter how many times I loaded and closed M/F it would not crash.

I went to Thunderbird and clicked on the email link that would load M/F. Immediately M/F would crash. I closed Thunderbird and tried to go straight to M/F but all I would get were crashes. I went back to Safe Mode, let M/F load in Safe Mode. I didn't un-install anything I only loaded M/F in Safe Mode. I then closed M/F Safe Mode and went to the regular M/F and it loaded without crashing. The only thing I did was load M/F in Safe Mode and this stopped the regular M/F from crashing.

However, I can't click on any links in Thunderbird that would load M/F while SiteAdvisor is installed or M/F will crash.

I don't know which Windows you are using but...

I am using Windows ME and Mozilla Firefox would crash for me when I tried to add the Google extention. I email Google about this and they told me that the Google extention for Moxilla Firefox and Windows ME are not compatable.

The problem isn't with Mozilla/Firefox, it's with one of the extensions, SiteAdvisor. M/F is probably the best web browser available. I personally think it is much better than IE.

I'm currently happily browsing with no troubles on Mozilla/Firefox. I just have to be careful about which extensions I use. And so far, SiteAdvisor beta is buggy but I'm positive they'll work out the bugs. SA is a very worthwhile extension.

extensions I much prefer Firefox. I used IE6 for years and have only been using Firefox for about 3 or 4 months now. It'll take some time to work through all of the functionality and peripheral pitfalls of Firefox. My personal opinion is that Firefox is best web browser available. I'm not alone in that sentiment.

I like Opera very much but I don't like the way it handles the bookmark sidebar. I may not be giving it its due, though, because I'm used to the interface of IE and Firefox. If I didn't have Firefox I'd be more inclined to get used to the Opera interface. It's a great browser. Even better than IE as far as quality is concerned. That's my impression, anyway.
