IE 6 Won't Let Me Download Anything!

I'm using IE6, and every time that I try to download anything, an alert window pops up that says: "Your current security settings do not allow you to download this file" I've tinkered with the IE options and privacy settings and have tried everything else(disabling Norton, disabling firewall) I want firefox but it won't even let me download it!

first of all, norton might not be causing it, because norton, as far as i know, does not controls the security settings.

your security setting, which are blocking you from downloading certain files, its configured by ie.

I don't remember exactly how to change it, but its deep in the ie properties. Its hard to find, but its not impossible

Open IE, click tools, options, security tab, custom level, select medium-low, hit reset, apply, ok.

thanks, now i know i was wrong. its true. i dont remenber cause i use now netscape. but in the properties you can find a button that redirects you to that.

but what you said its more simple.

Had the same problem and resolved it by doing the following:

In IE go to Tools - Internet Options - Security tab - Click Custom Level button

In the Downloads section under File download click Enable radio button.

Remember to Disable this after you've downloaded what you need as it is a security feature from IE.
