Need driver for VIA 3038 usb card.

I just installed a new 2.0 (upgrading from 1.1) usb card and the computer can't find the driver. The card is supposed to be compatible with Win98. I did a brief search looking for the driver, but didn't find one compatible with Win98. Help please. Thanks. Ed.

Actually I think the VIA 3038 was the old card I took out. I did see a VIA chip on the new card. Not sure if it means the new card is a VIA card or not. I'll have to take a good look at the new PCI 2.0 usb card and go from there.

For USB 2.0 you needed 98se. The basic 98 OS didn't have the hooks for 2.0 operations.

So far this has gotten me some upset folk that point to a 98 machine that has USB 2.0 working but everytime I found 98se on the machine as we pulled up the OS version.

I don't think folk today can differentiate 98 from 98se or that other oddball 98 version you rarely see. But to get this to work on 98 means you find a 98se CD. Upgrade and find all those drivers.

Rob, thanks for the reply. Sorry I didn't make it crystal clear. Didn't realize it made a difference and I thought you might have known it by all the posts you've helped me out with on the same OS in the last week or 2. But you probably answer zillions of posts. But anyway, it's Win98SE and I did find the software. Thanks again. Ed.

I barely recalled the 98 vs. 98se issue and USB 2.0. Even though I did a lot of work from DOS 1.x to present day. It can be a little blurry.
