Java not found or not working.....

I keep getting this error message when I try to play a game on Pogo. I have tried everything I can find..... uninstalled and reinstalled Java, cleared browser cache, cleared java cache, disabled norton, disabled pop-up blocker, confirmed that java script is enabled, etc etc ......

I actually have the java icon in my systray right now. It appears when I go to java.com and click on "do I have java" ... the next screen tells me that their site is not set up to confirm whether java is working on a system running Windows 98, but I'm guessing if the icon's in my systray, it's running. But still, I get the same error message on pogo.

Any ideas?

Please understand that Pogo has moved on to newer Java releases so there is not much hope here.

So it sounds like Pogo is a No-go for someone with Windows 98? I've been having lots of problems with this ancient computer, so maybe it's finally time to upgrade..... sigh.

...... I don't think Pogo is worth this much hassle. So I'm giving up on it. I think it's a sign I shouldn't sit in front of my computer all day playing silly games. wink

SUCCESS!!! Pogo works with Firefox!

Not sure anybody else is reading this, but just in case...... My issue with Pogo was completely resolved by downloading Firefox and using that as my browser instead of Internet Explorer.

Pogo Help was ridiculously un-helpful at first. It seemed as if they weren't even reading my emails, just sending form-letter responses requesting information that I had already sent. But then I received the following:

"Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Customer Support. I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. Your issue has been escalated to me and I will be happy to assist you in this matter. This issue is very strange and uncommon. I would like to try and narrow down the cause a bit further. In the prior notes, you mention using Windows 98 with IE 6. Try downloading Firefox 2 at this link: http://firefox.en.softonic.com/. You will see a 3.5.3 download on the top of the page, skip that and scroll down to the 2.0.0.20 version.

Install this browser and attempt to go to Pogo. Please let me know if this browser allows you to play because if you can, the issue is with IE 6 and easier to find the solution. I will be awaiting your reply. Thank you."

Worked like a charm.
