how to connect wubi ubunto to internet ?

hi all ..
system - dell N4010, core i 3 ,4gb, 500gb,ATI mobiltiy radeon 5470 hd
window 7 home basic(genuine)
LINUX- ubuntu via wubi (inside the window) or ubuntu-10.04.2-desktop-i386
no experiance in linux at all
DSL broadband modem (wireless)
i am not able to connect it to the internet ,i tried to connect it via ethernet ,set those ip's and gateways etc,then nothin is happening....
need help .....thanx in advance
