RE: Wildcat BBS - Linux Equivalent?
For a wildcat BBS equivalent, lacking any other specifications for how you intend to be using the software, I'd say that synchronet bbs software may be what you're looking for. It provides support for door programs (native or through DOSemu), highly configurable file areas and message areas, a variety of tcp/ip servers (finger, telnet, gopher, http, ftp, pop/smtp to name a few) and is easy to configure to use with a packet tosser for interbbs networks such as dove-net or fidonet. Meanwhile, the interface would be all but a seamless switch (at least for the standard telnet login), as there is a Wildcat menu clone, amongst a few others.
Hopefully this helps, I'm not entirely sure what you're aiming for though. Just in case, some other similar software you may want to look into would be BBBS, Mystic BBS, Citadel, or MBSE. I have personally used BBBS, Mystic, and Citadel (only Mystic as a sysop) and out of these I would say BBBS and Citadel are probably the two best options for a professional approach. BBBS was quite honestly the most impressive piece of software I think I've seen as far as these types of functions are concerned, but I shied away for personal use due to cost. In any case, this should provide you with plenty of information.
