the Gimp-problems with color.

Having experimented with 'the gimp' program in Linux, I'm a bit disapointed by the standard of colour in it. It seems to me to have an ever so slightly greyish tinge to it, which I don't get in photoshop (which I use on the same computer).The version of Gimp was running on a live version of Ubuntu.

What is the conventional wisdom about the differences between photoshop and gimp?

You didn't say what version of Gimp you were using.
1. I just installed Mandriva 2007 Free, which has the latest version of Gimp. I vaguely remember mention of the issue and this being a correction of it.
2. Gimp is free, Photoshop costs about $600US.
Seriously, check on your version of Gimp and update if necessary, and go to Gimp and see if the issue isn't discuss. chuck

Color Correction. If we must have accurate color we need to calibrate our hardware and software with tools like the Pantone Spyder. I've compare my old CRT to my new LCD (more than a few models) and the colors are not matching in "out of the box" or default configurations. Only when I calibrate do the colors appear to match on screen and print.

Hope this gives you something to think about.

A little bit of experimentation will be required but those give me something to work on.
Just as a suplementary question, is there a similar 'gimp' equivalent to Adobe illustrator with advance bezier curve editing features?

Or for that matter a photoshopper. Take a quick read of http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Bezier_Selections/ to see if that helps.

Remember I'm not a photoshopper.
