Never work with GoDaddy Again

I have been a web master for 13 years. My clients chose GoDaddy for their web host. While the web site was on the shared server during 2009 , the site would often-times die in the middle of the business day. We were then advised to purchase unlimited bandwidth in February 2010. Which we did and which did not solve the problem.

When I complained to GoDaddy about slow site performance once again, we were advised to upgrade to a Virtual Dedicated Server, which we did. This did help with the site performance until the site started crashing this time. Naturally I called GoDaddy support again.

For 11 days the site was having down. I called GoDaddy about one dozen times. After several reboots of the Virtual Dedicated Server, on May 15 I finally asked my best programmer to get on it right away. It took us 12 days of troubleshooting to finally get to level 2 GoDaddy support and solve the problem with a parent-node reboot. We will never work with them, nor should you ever again.

I only have 5 domains registered with GD, but I had no problems.

Read reviews of hawkhost -- most of which must have been written by the guys there -- and tried them out. They messed up my account and said i didn't type in my password right!!

Working with Go Daddy

My site is also hosted on Go Daddy from many years but I am not having any trouble with them.

Big Companies

The problem with big companies is that they donot have a "Human Face". Everytime you are talking to a new person.

And over that if you get a amature customer support exe , who asks you something like " WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO IT LIKE THIS" just completly bugs me off.

Look for companies where the Tech Support is really good. I found Rackspace Cloud Support to be the best.

Surely not! happy I've got a good few domains hosted with GoDaddy and I've never really had any problems, but that said buying new domains or services is like walking through a mine field, one false move and you're down $10!

and as a registrar, I've never had any problems with them, but you're right about the minefield... the pages you have to go through to checkout with a domain, I remember having to take the time to find "No thanks" somewhere in small next to "Continue" which assumed I wanted everything on that page. happy
