Considering your profile says you're an "Ecommerce, open source & software Development Company" specialising in "wordpress, joomla, PHP, drupal, magento, typo3, ASP.Net, DNN, ruby on rails, Cakephp, smarty, symfony, software, portal, mobile application, website design" you should know yourself.

At least you should know there's no solution that's always best, but it depends on the requirements and circumstances of this particular customer. That's your core business, and that's what you make money with: support of and advice about open source software.

So: what do you think is best for this customer and why?

Selecting the best application package for a particular case can be a very time-consuming and costly task. A student of mine just spend 10 full weeks to select the best planning package for his companies planning department. And that wasn't what you call a big department: 4 people doing the planning for 60 engineers visiting their customers.

The company that provided the package they currently use was removed from the short list due to giving bad support, although they had a very nice program. Your question in this forum makes me fear that your company will be removed from the short list of this customer due to proven incompetence. Sorry to note that.

The one I use the most is not the best but is the one might suggest again and again.

It's like the hammer in the tool chest versus others in the store.

Magento and X-cart are performing well and I think it could be better for e commerce site.

Magento is a very good open source commerce CMS - and also support multiple front-ends. I totally recommend it BUT you will may need someone to help you set it up and customize it. Also it is a resource hungry solution so you would need to make sure your hosting can support it, some hosting companies will not even host a Magento site.

I would use opencart its truly the best on the opensource market. The best thing really about opencart is the easy to use extensions and editing the code is not so bad as other ecommerce platforms I have heard.
