Coding & scripting forum: Identity Theft -- protect your files!

So, I don't normally post to forums like this, but I just felt compelled to share my story.

I was staying at a hotel and happened to be at the bar late one night when, maybe after a few too many cocktails, I left my laptop bag behind. The next morning, I woke up, realized it was missing... but it was too late. The bag was nowhere to be seen downstairs.

Oh well, I'm thinking, right? I can always buy another laptop. It's just a possession...

WRONG. A few weeks later, I started getting weird bills in the mail. Whoever found my laptop got into all my tax information, which I keep on my computer, and was able to open up FIVE credit cards in my name. So what happened? My accounts were frozen. My student loans got all messed up. I kept calling customer service after customer rep, only to get transferred somewhere else.

That made me reassess my file security. I got VAULT REVOLUTION, and I couldn't be happier. It doesn't take up any memory space on my computer and all I have to do is enter my password and enter LOCK or UNLOCK. And starting at like $20! It's an extra step I'm willing to take to keep my identity safe. It's turned me into a bit of a tech-junkie.
