Windows XP forum: Turn off auto-hardware detect?

Turn off auto-hardware detect?

I installed a sound card on my computer, and uninstalled the built-in via audio driver. Everytime I start my comptuer, however, XP (service pack 2) auto-detects the uninstalled driver and tries to install.

Needless to say, it is very annoying. How do I turn this auto-detect feature off?

Install the uninstalled driver, then go into Device Manager and check/uncheck the box that says something like "not used in this configuration".
