USB peripheral switch not recognized after installing printer
In the past, I have been able to to use one printer, an HP Deskjet 6122, to print from either of two computers using a Belkin USB Peripheral Switch. One computer is a desktop using Windows XP with service pack 3 installed. The other is a laptop using Windows 7 which I use for Internet access. The desktop computer has never accessed the Internet.
I have replaced the above printer with a HP Laserjet P1102w. After installing the new printer I got an error message when I plugged in the cable from the switch to the desktop.
USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognized it.
When I plug the printer directly to the desktop, it prints fine. It also prints fine through the switch from the laptop. I talked to HP and the switch maker, Belkin. Reinstallations of both the printer and the peripheral switch did not correct the error message.
Any suggestions to correct this problem?
