Unable to install XP, STOP: 07B

I have a friend's Lenovo SL410 laptop which apparently had been virus infested. Before I got it to play with, he took it to someone who formatted the drive. There is no recovery disk available, so he installed Ubuntu. Windows XP is a must for this machine and I'm trying to get it reinstalled. After numerous dead ends (always getting the STOP 07B Blue Screen), I believe that the Linux MBR may be the problem. I then used DBAN and completely wiped/nuked the disk. No help - I still get the blue screen when I try to boot from my original XP program disk, although it first loads all the install files OK). How can I get the XP install program to run? Thanks! For the record, here is the first part of the STOP error: STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524.....all zeroes after that). DBAN sez the disk is wiped.
