I just mainly want to control my own margins, for misc., maybe note-taking, letters, creative writing, or whatever comes along. Was afraid I wouldn't get any answers to this one.

I just did a search and it contains a lot of terms with which I'm not familiar. I'd like to see if there are some more before I make a choice.

Every version of Word lets you control margins

What version of Word are you having margin problems with? I've used every version since the Windows 3.1 days, and they all let you set the margins. There's also Wordpad that's built into every version of Windows since Windows 95. If I knew what version of Word you've been using, I could tell you exactly how to control the margins, but you haven't said. With Word 2007 you just click Page Layout and Margins. If you don't like the preconfigured margins, you can click the "Custom Margins" option and set them exactly like you want.
