Cannot delete folders from recycle bin in WIN 32 Bit XP

I have Win 32 Bit XP professional and what happened I cleaned a lot of photo's in my my pictures and then deleted the files. When I try to delete the folder restore the folder or move the folder in the recycle bin I get an error message
Cannot remove file or folder
Make sure the disk is not full
or write protected and that the
file is currently not in use.
Any thing I try to do to the folder I get this message.
The disk is not full. Is not write protected and not in use. If I delete a word document or spreadsheet there is no problem.
The only way that I can get rid of them but it will take me forever is to use a program called unlocker and move each folder at a time to a thumb drive and format the thumb drive.
Any help with this issue would be a great help. It is not hurting anything but it is not right.
I was thinking of using the program Unlocker to do the whole recycle bin but then I would not have a recycle bin.

I can tell you of power tools to do this.

But some of these folders are protected for a reason. If a reboot to safe mode still results in a lock, there is usually a good reason. Once you tell me that you can recover from backup your blown system I will share my power tool of choice.

T WAS ABLE TO DO THE BACK UP SO LETS PLAY WHAT THE NEXT BIT OF BREAD CRUMBS YOU WILL SUPPLY TO FIX MY BLOWN SYSTEM.

Boot up UBUNTU and go to the folder and delete what you want. Nothing stops you. However I can't help you recover from a blown system when folk do that.

the recycle bin or a file in it is corrupt (and since you mention pictures, XP has a history of probles caused by bad graphics files).
