I purchase an HP notebook fro someone that was having a moving sale. Widows XP thought itwold be great for my photo projects,I have an old program that I can't update and won't work on any of the new operating systems (Picture it) One catch, can't get into the notebook, it is password protected and when I asked the guy I purchased it from he told me it as been so long that he doesn't remember it. Tells me to reset it????? HELPPPPPPP, please.

Did you try NTPASSWD?

It's free, takes about 5 minutes and has tutorials on the web so I'll stop here.

Remember you posted about getting into XP. If this is a bios password issue, you didn't say.

I am not sure, I know the operating system is XP. Trying to start up the notebook. I power it on and that's as far as I go. Can't start up the notebook. Password protected.

And without the model number (sorry I can't find it) we can't discuss if there is any BIOS password backdoor or reset.

I know this is likely your first encounter with this issue but hope you understand the issue better.

Using https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=nc6620+bios+password+reset I think I'd try this one next.

Using that hash code might be the best idea to try before the battery removal.
