New Hard Drive Windows XP Pro & cant get my printer to work.

This may be lengthy, but I want to give as much info as I can. Got a Dell Dimension E520 desktop from a friends office, from which they had removed the hard drives. I purchased a new hard drive, and had an IT guy at work install the drive and download Windows XP Pro, (the software that was originally installed on the PC when it was new), with updates to SP3.

I have a HP psc 2210 all-in-one printer that I had used successfully for with another Dell PC. I can not get it to work with my new setup. Someone on another Forum Topic here on c/net says that they believe that maybe the person who installed my Windows XP may not have downloaded the drivers that I may need on this computer.

I would really like to get this printer to work with this desktop .. but not really sure what drivers I may be missing. I have gone to the HP site, and have downloaded the driver for my printer, but it still will not find and install it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

When you say it can't find the drivers you downloaded. Did you go to the file you down loaded and clicked on it to start the install procedures manually? Also if you did start the install did you have the printer plugged in? If you did this could have created a problem as most printers want the SW installed first.

What about all those other drivers? Motherboard, chipset, audio, video and more?

Most are at dell.com and again, don't count on the front USB ports.
