Can I recover a lost Administrators password and how

I used some security tool to take my computer with one account and no passwords and set up a separate Administrator account and an internet browsing account. The Admin password was automatically generated and I recorded it in a password protected Excel file and logged out. When I logged into the internet browser account I found that all my files were in the admin acct including my protected Excel password file which ha my Admin Password. Can I recover or must I erase the drive and start over.

In XP, try to boot into Safe Mode and see if the secret account for user administrator is still without password.
If it isn't download NTPASSWD (free) to reset passwords.
