XP asking for network password of 40 or 104 bits

When i attempt to connect my laptop to my sky router it does not recognise the pass word and comes up with 'password need to be 40 or 104 bits or 5 or 13 asci characters'. This only occurs on XP home edition as my sons laptop on Vista connects fine.

I see that on WEP WiFi and since that can be cracked in about 2 minutes the first thing I change is the router to WPA2 but...

XP does not support WPA2 until the OS is patched (get to SP3) and the WiFi driver supports WPA2.

My guess is that you really have XP (the one with no SP1, 2 or 3) and we would see that message. The cure is to update the OS to SP3 along with the WiFi driver.
