Blue screen with error message

Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire 3680 and run windows Xp. 2 days ago i had a power failure and my comp shut down while it was doing the automatic updates when windows shuts down.
Yesterday when I turned on my comp.. the black screen appeared giving option like start in safe mode... safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt and start windows normally.
I was not sure what to do so i chose start windows normally. it was starting up and when it got to windows loading it went to the blue screen and the comp restarted.. it kept on doing this so i turned it off from the power button.
I then got another comp to search for anything that can help.. but nothing helped. the error message i got was ***STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203. 0x82D088C0, 0XC0000102, 0X00000000) I cannot get into safe mode, safe mode with network, or safe mode with comand prompt..
PLease help me to get my comp back to normal!!

We see the laptop had other issues and they reloaded the OS from all we can tell. BUT you can use the FIRST REPLY to see what are the usual fixes.

http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/acer-aspire-3680-2633/1707-3121_7-32481478.html shows this looks to be 5 years old which is very good for a laptop.
