Buffalo External Hard drive problem-Help please!

Hi all,

I have just purchased a 500G Buffalo external hard drive, HD-PC500U2/BK-EU. Plug it in and it is recognised by my P.C (running XP) but I cannot go any further and cannot run the DriveNavi.exe file which is on the external HD. All I get are the following error messages

The application failed to inialize properly (0xc0000006). Click OK to terminate the application.

and

F:\DriveNavi.exe
Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed

and

F:\DriveNavi.exe is not a valid Win32 application

I have trawled the net to try to find a solution and Buffalo support are no use at all...and extremely frustrated and would appreciate any help, please

I wonder if this is a .NET app?

This error is caused because the .NET Framework isn't on your computer (or it was uninstalled.)

I find most folk uninstall all .NET versions because of the update fiasco.

I read "NET Framework 2.0 is required for this product."

Is that installed?

Buffalo was unclear about the exact version so I looked at a non-buffalo source.

There are many other reasons for this including PROTECTION SUITES. I'm beginning to feel that these protection suites are more trouble than they are worth at times but to block an .EXE from removables could be a good idea if you are in the protection suite racket (um business?)

Sorry I don't have a clear answer here but if this was me I'd look at copying it to a local folder and from what I read there are a few support files such as some bitmap BMP file. It wasn't funny last year when I helped on such an issue and the owner had deleted the BMP file because they thought it was not needed.

-> Which means we can always consider heading to Buffalo and downloading their latest?
